Incorporating the Four Elements into Your Backyard

Incorporating the Four Elements into Your Backyard

For a perfectly balanced backyard, you should try your best to ensure that each of the four elements is present: air, earth, water, and fire. Now, air is pretty self-explanatory and is going to be profuse in any outdoor space. But for most people, the other three elements can require a little work. But not to worry. We’re here to help! Here’s how to incorporate the perfect balance of earth, water, and fire into your garden space, where you have acres of land, or a small patch to call your own.

Earth

Let’s start with the most familiar. The earth element is most likely already profuse in your garden. This is to be expected in most outdoor spaces: you have your grass, bushes, hedges, and trees. But you can always do a little more to cultivate some stunning greenery around your property. Why not add climber plants to your property. This will quite literally embrace your home with nature. If you have space, you could designate a part of your yard to grow fresh produce, such as potatoes, carrots, and herbs. New flowerbeds can be dug up, and hanging baskets can bring floral colours and patterns above ground and up to eye level.

Water

Water can be incorporated into your yard in a number of ways. The most obvious option, perhaps, is a water feature. There’s a water feature that will suit almost any space, be it large or small. For a sense of grandeur, you can opt for a large, classical tiered fountain, stone water feature, or wall hanging fountain. For something a little more subtle and modern, you may prefer a small rock cascade, a blade cascade, a trough water feature, or a sphere water feature. Alternatively, if you were hoping for something a little lower maintenance, you could add a simple bird bath. This will refill itself with rain, or can be topped up with a hose or watering can in the warmer months. If you’re looking for more luxury, a hot tub may be the ideal water element addition that you’re looking for. Something like proficient patios hot tubs will allow you to immerse yourself in warm, clean water while feeling the breeze on your face and blowing through your hair.

Fire

Now, fire may well come across as the hardest of the elements to implement. But firepits and chimineas are growing in popularity and becoming more widely available to the average consumer. The main purpose of this features is to supply a source of heat out back. This allows you to sit out in the garden and revel in the outdoors even when the temperature drops or the sunsets! So if this sounds good to you, it may well be time to start scouring the market for the perfect design to suit your garden’s aesthetic. They are best placed on a patio or other stone slabs as a sort of centrepiece in your designated seating area, allowing yourself and guests to gather round and chat or relax while staying snug and warm.

There you have it! The perfect combination of elements to make your backyard truly stand out.
